Does Rick Santorum Worship Satan?

DEVIL 4 Comments »

In a 2008 Rick Santorum gave a speech where he elaborated on the topic of Satan. Satan is a fascinating subject, but often misunderstood. People really underestimate Satan. As the bible says: “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” Satan does not wear horns and hooves but angel wings.

There are many different versions of Jesus Christ; they are not all the same. The evangelical Christian’s Jesus is not the same as the Jesus of the Mormons, whom is not the same as the Jesus of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. The various versions of Jesus are so different they might as well be entirely separate deities. Which Jesus Christ does Rick Santorum worship?  Santorum’s comments about Satan actually reveal the true nature of Santorum’s Jesus. Rick Santorum said:

“If you were Satan, who would you attack, in this day and age? There is no one else to go after, other than the United States. And that’s been the case for now almost 200 years, once America’s pre-eminence was sown by our great Founding Fathers. He didn’t have much success in the early days—our foundation was very strong, in fact, is very strong. But over time, that great, acidic quality of time corrodes away even the strongest foundations. And Satan has done so, by attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity and sensuality.”

Rick Santorum suggests America was more godly 200 years ago when we had slavery, when we destroyed the American Indians and suppressed the rights of women. I’d suggest we have a far more humane nation today then we did under slavery.  Santorum views the era of slavery, where only white male landowners could vote, as the golden age of Christianity.

Today Santorum believes the government should regulate gay relationships. He has equated gay relationships as being on the same level as bestiality, incest or pedophilia. This tactic is used to dehumanize someone you disagree with; deny their humanity, make them an inhuman “other”. Then it becomes acceptable to persecute and annihilate them. This tactic of dehumanization was used by the Nazis to persecute and destroy the Jews. The dehumanization of racism was used to justify the slavery of Africans.  Today we dehumanize gays.

Today some worship a version of Jesus that justifies the persecution of gay people.  In the past this same version of Jesus was called on to destroy Jews and enslave Africans. People quoted the Bible to justify slavery, and anti-Semitism proclaimed their beliefs by claiming Jews killed Jesus.

Who then is Rick Santorum’s Jesus? The Jesus of Rick Santorum is NOT the same Jesus of Martin Luther King Jr.  Rick Santorum worships the one who masquerades himself as an angel of light. The Jesus of Rick Santorum is the Jesus of Hate.

“If you were Satan, who would you attack, in this day and age?”

I suggest Satan would attack Christianity from within and destroy it by proclaiming bigotry as a Christian virtue.  Those who worship the Jesus of Hate worship Satan disguised as Christ.  It is pretty amazing how many Christians are actually Satan worshippers without knowing it.  Or perhaps they are not so gullible…perhaps they know exactly what they are worshipping…even if they can’t admit it.

What Was The Fiery Demon Of Puerto Rico? Ball Lightning, Earth Lights Or A Ghost Orb?

DEVIL No Comments »

fiery-demonI know someone who was born and raised in Puerto Rico.  He told me a story, which sounded like folklore, but he insisted this actually happened to his uncle.  My acquaintance said his uncle was a real son-of-a-bitch.  His uncle was not a nice guy, but a womanizer and a drinker and he would tangle with anyone who looked at him the wrong way.

Long ago, his uncle was walking down an empty rural road towards his home in his Puerto Rican village.  His uncle was alone on the road with only the moon to accompany him. Then he saw a something very strange.  A light appeared on the road, which started to follow him.  It came closer and closer.

Now this part is hard to believe, but the uncle said he saw a fiery demon, a devil with hooves and horns, all enveloped in fire.  It chased him, and he ran as if his life depended it.  The flaming demon continued to chase him and he didn’t look back until he finally did.  The fiery demon was gone.

My friend said the fiery demon was a part of local Puerto Rican folklore.  This devil would carry a whip and chase the wicked to chastise them.  I told him this sounded like a boogeyman designed to scare children into behaving themselves.  However, assuming his uncle actually did encounter something, what exactly did his uncle see?  Was this sinner actually chased by the devil?  That is what the villagers assumed.  But what really happened?

I wonder if his uncle was wandering past a marsh or swamp?  There is a well known phenomena commonly called the will-o-the-wisp, or corpse candles, ghost orbs, spook lights and so on.  There are instances when a luminance appears in the dark.  Did the uncle, perhaps drunk, witness flaming swamp gas?  That sounded like the easy answer. Yet, he said the light followed him, even chased him.  That is a telling detail.

will-o-the-wisp

How about ball lightning?  Ball lightning is an anomalous phenomenon that is still in dispute but seems real enough.  Ball lightning in motion could appear to have followed the uncle.  The superstitious might imagine such a mysterious light would be explained by their folklore…a flaming devil.

Or earth lights?  It is thought that stresses underground, minor fault lines grinding against each other, can create atmospheric lights called earth lights.  Again, there is no solid evidence earth lights exist.

Another option was what the uncle experienced was real paranormal activity.  If not the literal devil, perhaps a spirit nevertheless.  Below is a video of an orb from the Black Forest in Colorado.  Imagine encountering this on a lonely road.  I could see how someone might imagine the devil is chasing them.
