Sandy Hook School Shooting and Modern Evil Spirits

DEMONS Add comments

There is a belief among some people (primarily religious folk) that there are evil spirits or demons, and their purpose is to influence the minds of men towards evil.  There is the iconic image of a person with an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other, each whispering into his ears in an attempt to sway his mind.  I don’t think many really believe in such things nowadays, and mankind really is fully capable of evil without needing to be goaded on.

However, there is a modern version of “evil spirit” that whispers and inspires disturbing thoughts.  That would be the news media.  The coverage of the Sand Hook School shooting has been appropriate.  However, the news media being a business, know a hot story and they exploit it.  We are all interested in what happened and want to be informed.

However, for the crazies of the world, they also watch the new media’s coverage with fascination.  Unlike most people who were appalled and dismayed by this awful massacre, crazies view the event with…admiration.  With the news dwelling on this massacre we are unwittingly inspiring the next crazy shooter.  What normal people view as evil, the crazies view as power.  Why else are we suddenly experiencing multiple shootings?

The news media is putting ideas in the minds of lunatics almost as if the media were whispering evil spirits.  Sane people don’t understand this.  But imagine the Sandy Hook School news coverage from the viewpoint of a crazy who feels abused by the world, feels powerless.  By endlessly dwelling on these shooter/massacre stories we are setting up the next such event.  Now the MO is a bulletproof vest along with Glocks or assault rifles.

Should we restrict news coverage of shooter massacres?  We’d be better off if we did but that won’t ever happen.  Instead I have an idea.  How about limiting gun ownership to guns that serve a purpose?  A hunting rifle, a double barrel shotgun, or a revolver for self defense all serve a purpose.  A sixty round Glock or a hundred round assault rifles serve no rational purpose, outside of arming the crazies with the means to kill dozens of people in minutes.

Along with limits on guns, I hope we take a good look at our mental health system. In many states it is very difficult to get a person over age 18 involuntarily committed to a mental institution. And along with the little “family life education” that kids get in school these days, there should be coverage of what to do (and what not to do) if a family member is mentally ill.

In the end its all about the MONEY. Gun sales/heavy weaponry sales. Then you have the media trying to put out however gruesome-they-can-get info to get people to tune into watch their broadcasts. Unfortunately, I don’t think whoever runs the “system” either understands the bigger picture here or just doesn’t give a da#*!! Money is what keeps this ball rolling and I don’t see it EVER slowing down. Ugh its sad, people!

I’m afraid I have to agree with you. The gun lobby makes big money for the gun makers. The media makes big money out of these horrible stories. It is a corrupt system, and children have to pay with their lives so the media and gun merchants can make a profit. How awful.

The Bible says of the children of God, “they will know you are Christians by your love”. The other side of that coin, is the monumental hatred demonstrated at Sandy Hook. This nation should reconsider removing God from every public venue and bragging about having evolved beyond the need for God. There is no assault weapon as dangerous as an evil idea. The choice is love or hatred, and we are choosing the latter thereby reaping the whirlwind.

I have been saying similar too, about the media coverage. Generally it seems that they focus on the killer and the killer should be imho just be swept over, a bit like garbage. ‘The killer is known to the police and dead’ or whatever.. should be the comment, no more than that. Information on the killer serves no purpose.

I wonder how many people can name one of the children killed in the shooting, or an adult? I would take a bet to say that more would remember the killers name though……and that is all wrong in my book.

    Hi Rick,
I wish we could outlaw and ban the crazy in people, or evil in people. That can’t happen. So what to do? Just let crazies shoot people? I fear the next crazy is already making his plans. BTW, notice it is always men who are shooters, rarely women. I wonder why.

  7. David Says:

Yes, we can name the shooters along with many serial killers. The media is making big money out of this while inspiring the next crazy. We many not realize it, but the crazy is inspired by all the media coverage. I wish the media would not play up these awful stories for the sake of ratings.

If we start taking away everything that might harm others we will all live in a empty room. If you Take away my guns how am I supposed to defend myself from those that don’t abide by the same laws. Every mass shooting was done by cowards taking advantage of those abiding by the laws in the NO GUN ZONES. Let’s start enforcing our laws and put away the trouble makers.

  9. David Says:

    Hi Mark,
I’m not suggesting we ban all guns, just some types of guns. We draw the line currently against machine guns. Why? Because they are just too dangerous. If automatic weapons were legal to own, the crazy shooters would have used those instead, since they seek the highest kill rate. Instead the maniacs go for next most dangerous weapons legally available like the 25-rounds Glocks. Where do we draw the line? That is for society to decide. Just be assured, there will be more shooting tragedies in the future, since there is no end of crazies in our society. If society can accept mass shooter tragedies on a regular basis like we currently do with gangbanger shootings, then there is no need to change any gun laws.

Hi David,I respect your view. I do not trust our government period. I do not want some politcion defining what is legal, and what isn’t. If a law abiding citizen feels he is more protected with an automatic rifle at their home then they should be able to own one. The government is trying to tell us what restrictions we need to be safe, but that again is a personal decision. If a home is invaded my a number of bad guys and having a gun shooting only 5,7,9 rounds may not be enough to protect that home owner. I think it’s funny how these decision makers can sit in their loft telling us what rules we can live by while they live by a whole different set of rules. Again I do not trust our government. That is not a slam on any particular party but a slam on the government in general. I do not want to see another Sandy hook incident or any other mass shooting. But I do not want to be a shhep as well. It’s funny how all these mass shootings take place in GUN FREE ZONES. Thanks

Mark the things you say about the government are extremely un-American and disrespect our democratic way of life. I don’t think we as a nation want individuals deciding the law. When individuals decide the law they are either anarchists or tyrants. As a society we create laws and we live by them as a community. You don’t get to make up your own rules and hold the rest of us hostage. Too many law abiding Americans are slaughtered every year because of paranoid individuals with guns.
