EARTHQUAKE UPDATE: DECEMBER 21, ONE DAY AFTER THE LUNAR ECLIPSE, 7.4 EARTHQUAKE HITS NEAR JAPAN! Major 7.4-magnitude quake hits near Japanese islands: USGS
“The quake hit at 2:19 am local time (1719 GMT Tuesday), 153 kilometres (95 miles) east of Chichi-shima in Japan’s remote Bonin island region and at a shallow depth of just 14 kilometres.” An even bigger 7.4 earthquake has hit near Japan following the lunar eclipse. and the Iran earthquke!
We have two stories I believe are related. Tonight on this December 20 we will have a winter solstice lunar eclipse. This is a rare event, to have a lunar eclipse during the longest night of the year, the winter solstice. The last time this occurred was in 1638.
Earlier today Iran suffered a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. I was expecting something like this to happen when the full moon was approaching its lunar eclipse. This is just one more example of the power of the moon and its influence over the earth. Will there be more earthquakes to follow?
The lunar eclipse: Lunar Eclipse Tonight Will Cast Rare Shadow on Winter Solstice
A total lunar eclipse will be visible across North America tonight, just in time for the longest night of the year. This will be the first time a lunar eclipse has fallen on the winter solstice since 1638. The Earth’s shadow will begin to blot out the moon at 1:32 am EST.
Another story about the eclipse: Will Tuesday Be the Darkest Day in 372 Years?
The earthquake: Magnitude 6.5 earthquake strikes Iran
A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck southeastern Iran on Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake occurred at 10:11 p.m. local time, or 1:41 p.m. ET, according to the USGS.
